Huntsville Dreams

Huntsville is a small Texas town where endless prison walls dominate the streets, and everyday life is deeply entangled with the prison system.

Strangely, in recent years, it also became a destination for African immigrants seeking steady work. In this town, a young, free-spirited artist is trying to take a different path. His family came from Nigeria and found work in the prison system - but after a traumatic experience behind those walls, he made a promise to himself: never again. Instead, Instead, he dreams of opening up his own art studio, a place to weave past and present into a future of his own.

Huntsville Dreams is the second feature-length documentary by Louise Van Assche and Kwinten Gernay, following The Bad Guy. It’s a film about hope, resistance and creativity in a town where not everyone gets the same shot at the future.
